The Sushi Elite: Kuruma Zushi
This place is crazy expensive (example: $12 for one piece of sashimi), and they serve nothing but sushi. It's the kind of place where very wealthy Manhattan dwellers, and jetsetting foreigners, pop in for some sushi. I don't know what the Hell I was doing there -- I guess I had to give it a shot. I dropped $100 and barely had anything. The sushi chef carefully ran down the stats on everything I ordered -- what body of water it came from and what variation. In your conventional sushi bar, you'd rarely find out what variation of sea bass or flounder you were eating, let alone what body of water it came from and how long it's been dead. The sushi definitely tasted fresher than just about any raw fish I've ever eaten, but I'm not sure it was worth the premium prices.
