AUSTIN SUSHI NEWS: July 10th, 2000

Kenichi is coming to Austin! The rumour mill is buzzing about this fabulous Aspen, Colorado based sushi bar. Dick Clark Architecture is helping design the new downtown sushi bar at the old Thai Soon location, 5th and Colorado. Perhaps it will open this Fall, we're not certain yet.

A new sushi bar will be opening soon. Umi's, on the southbound frontage road of I-35 near  Stassney Lane, is under construction. This is a good location for a before or after movie dinner. Welcome this new South Austin sushi addition!

Can't get enought of real sushi? If you've got a Nintendo64 video game system, check out Sushi-Go-Round, a fast action sushi eating game. Sushi-Go-Round is one of the games on the Pokemon Stadium Game Pak. In this game,you're a sushi-eating lizard and you race against other lizards to eat as much sushi as you can in a limited amount of time. Get points for eating the more expensive sushi, but watch out for too much wasabi!!

Austin's newest fast food sushi restaurant opened several months ago. Zen Japanese Food Fast, located at 2900 W. Anderson Lane, 451-4811, (across the street from Northcross Mall) serves up some fine, fast, sushi. We particularly liked their rolls made with smoked salmon.
