Favorite casual moderatly priced sushi bar

:D I really like Tokyo Japanese resteraunt on Bee Caves Road. I've been to Tokyo many times and feel this is one of the best in the area for a casual sper of the moment moderatly priced sushi bar.

Paul (his American name), the head Sushi Chef and Ahsley (her American name) are very friendly and have an excellent staff always ready to serve yur needs with a smile.

Paul can and will make any authentic sushi roll you know of. One of my favorites is the flounder, mint and plum sauce roll. It definitly reminds me of the rolls I eat in Japan. You can bring in your own Saki which I do when I return from Asia and Paul will always be happy to have a glass with you.

I have been going to this sushi bar since it opened and it has really improved so if you haven't been there in a year or so give it a try. Compai!

I agree, Tokyo is good if you are in a pinch for something - they are open all day unlike most sushi bars in town. Their Tiger Eye roll is excellent (ika/ikura/avacado maki - with a touch of mayo). I usually have take out once a week - I eat lunch between 1 and 4 and I really appreciate them being open then. As for dining in, Paul is great, their sashimi fish isn't always the finest but I have never had to pay for something I am not enjoying. Iishi-san is the owner and he is very nice. Of course they are now opening a Sonic next door (dining in Sonic at that, never saw one of those before), so I can get a Route 44 slush to go along with my sushi! yum, John

im a big fan of banzai on lamar (next to EZ's) its a small restaurant with a nice & simple interior. and its always so cheap. i always go, eat a ton, and never spend more than $30. SUGOI!!!!

Banzai is a really great place for fast Japanese food. I wasn't expecting much on my first visit, but after eating there I was really satisfied. Their sushi is not the finest, but for the price it's definitely worth it. It's way better than some of the so-called "Japanese" restaurants that charge way more and most definitely beats the hell out of Zen--which tries to do the whole Japanese fast food thing too--down the street (but that was pretty obvious from the start). I would recommend their regular menu over the sushi menu; try the Kastudon--very authentic.

I am not a big fan of Zen, but have only been there once so will need to return and try something else. I've only been to Banzai twice now, and was disappointed in the donburi however found their curry to be pretty good. Karre Udon is one of my favourites from Japan so was pleased to find it on the menu. Why can't we get a Yoshinoya here? I only today found a decent Gyu don from Sushi Japon. Anyone know anywhere else for good curry/donburi?

Must go back for an order of the Tempura by itself later in the week... well, maybe another roll too :)
